Decades past its prime, the terminally-uncool genre of Smooth Jazz endures as an underground music scene for senior citizens. Clad in sequins and bathing in the sweet sound of saxophone, its fans enjoy a joyous, diverse, and hidden paradise. But all’s not well.

With leader Dave Koz incapacitated by a tortured relationship to the word “smooth”, the clock is ticking for the movement’s next leader— one who will attract young fans to ensure that the Smooth World lives forever.
